3.Renewable Energy Certificates.(RECs)

When you purchase a solar hot water unit, there are RECS associated with your individual unit choice.

RECs are effectively a type of rebate that we can purchase from you and then trade onto RECs users.

You can check how many RECs for what type of solar unit from the Office of the Renewable Energy Regulator Register

The Office of the Renewable Energy Regulator has more information about Renewable Energy Certificates, but essentially, RECs :

• are an electronic form of currency initiated by the Renewable Energy (Electricity) Act 2000;
• may be created, on the internet based registry system (known as the REC Registry), by eligible parties for each megawatt-hour of eligible renewable electricity generated or deemed to have generated;
• are created by registered persons;
• are validated by the Office of the Renewable Energy Regulator;
• are registered;
• are traded between registered persons;
• are eventually surrendered to demonstrate liability compliance against the requirements of the Australian Government's mandatory renewable energy target or voluntary surrender. More information on Voluntary Surrender; and
• may be traded separately from the physical electricity in a REC market.

4. Envestra Natural Gas Plumber Hot Water Incentive Scheme

A $500 incentive is available to applicants who meet the eligibility criteria summarized below and only plumbing contractors registered with Envestra can lodge this claim on your behalf.

This incentive is only available for upgrading electric to natural gas hot water for existing homes already connected to natural gas or the gas main is passing the property

The Water Heater incentive is payable where a home owner purchases a Natural Gas operated hot water system. However the incentive is not payable where the hot water system is being purchased in replacement of an existing Natural Gas operated hot water system.

Only one such incentive is payable per home.

SA Plumbing & Hot Water is a registered plumbing company with Envestra for this promotion and has to lodge the claim on your behalf.

We deduct $500.00 directly from your quoted hot water installation price so ask us for more information.
